Absolute Dimensions was incorporated in March 2004 by Mike Rickords and Stephen Brittain. In the end of May 2004, Absolute leased a 2200 square foot facility located at 3930 West 29th Street South Suite 45 Wichita Kansas. In June 2004, the first machine arrived. This machine was a Calypso Hammerhead Waterjet. Mike would run the machine and take care of operations during the day, and Steve would run the machine at night after a full day of working at another machine shop. In August 2004, Miranda Brittain came to work full time. Miranda took over all of the accounting duties and also stepped in when needed out in the shop. In January 2005, Absolute Dimensions purchased its first CNC mill. It was an old Bridgeport Boss 5. Steve upgraded the control with a Centroid unit. In June 2005, Absolute Dimensions leased an additional 2200 square feet to make room for the next machine. In November 2005, Absolute Dimensions purchased its second mill, a 2005 Haas VF3YTSS. Soon after Steve quit his full time job to devote more time to the company and Travis Gillenwater was hired as head of the Absolute Dimensions CNC Department. In May of 2006, the third mill arrived, a 2006 Haas VF6SS. The purchase of this machine required even more space so Absolute Dimensions moved to it’s current 25,000 square foot facility at 3838 West May.
